Howe Code: an AI code editor for your store

How to change your store's theme by asking an agent: you see it in the preview, you approve it and it can be undone.

For when the visual editor isn't enough

The store's visual editor handles most changes: adding and reordering sections, changing colors, font and corners. Sometimes you want something more specific that isn't in any section: showing the installment amount on each product, adding a free-shipping banner, changing how a button looks everywhere.

That's what Howe Code is for: an AI code editor on your store's theme. You ask for the change in your own words, see what it touched file by file, try it in the preview and only then approve it. You don't need to write code or open it: the agent does that, and you decide.

How it works

Ask for it like you'd ask your team

You write the change in your own words. The agent reads your store's theme, looks for where the thing you asked about is, edits it file by file and tells you what it did. For example: "Make the "View the collection" button purple with rounded corners."

See the result before publishing

Your store's preview reloads with every change. You try it exactly as a buyer will see it, and only then decide whether it goes out.

You approve, and you can go back

The agent proposes every change as a diff, that is, as a comparison of what was there with what would remain. Depending on the mode you choose, you approve it before it's written or the agent accepts it on its own in the draft. What doesn't change in any mode is that publishing always asks for your approval: nothing reaches your buyers unless you decide it.

How much the agent does on its own: the four modes

In each session you choose how much freedom you give the agent:

  • Auto: Howe decides the permissions. It edits, looks at the preview and validates on its own.
  • Manual: it always asks before making changes.
  • Accept edits: it accepts draft edits on its own.
  • Plan: it builds a plan before making changes.

You can switch modes depending on how much you trust what you're asking: Manual for a delicate change, Auto for a small one. In every mode, publishing always asks for your approval.

Several sessions at once

Every request lives in its own session. You can have several open at the same time, grouped into those waiting for you, those working and recent ones. So while the agent makes a long change, you review another one that's already done.

Things you can ask for

These are four examples of the most common requests:

  • Change the style. Colors, fonts and buttons, without hand-editing a stylesheet. For example: "Make the "View the collection" button purple with rounded corners."
  • Show information better. Installments, stock and labels: what your customers need to see before buying. For example: "Show the 3-installment amount on each product."
  • Add sections. Reviews, frequently asked questions or a free-shipping banner. For example: "Add a reviews section on the product page."
  • Organize the store. Menus, collections and the cover, the way you want them. For example: "Build a menu with the store's categories."

How far it goes

Howe Code works on the theme of the store you build in Howe, with its preview, its draft and its versions. For a site built outside Howe, the editor doesn't apply: write to us and we'll look at it as custom work. The AI code editor comes with the Pro and Ultra plans; the details are in Free, Pro and Ultra plans.

If you want to see the whole path of building a store, from the template to the editor, it's in Build your online store, edit it with AI and publish it on Howe.
